Display Controller not coming on

1. Verify proper voltage is going to display controller

  • Perform a continuity test on fuse to make sure it's not blown out.
  • If a power switch (ON/OFF) is present, perform a continuity test on the switch. If the switch fails the test replace it.
  • Check breaker box and make sure breaker for appliance hasn't tripped. If the breaker is reset and it trips again, check the appliance wiring for faulty power connections.
  • If fryer has a relay control board, check wires going to J35 connectors. 115vac should be present.

Appliance comes on but burners not igniting and system fail

1. Check Hi Limit

  • Depending on the appliance and brand the hi limit can be located in the front of the fryer or in the back. If it's in the front, the hi limit will probable have a red reset bottom located in the center of the part. By pressing the button in the hi limit is reset and the circuit is no longer broken. If the hi limit is located in the back then most likely it is shaped like a probe and is at the bottom of the vat in the center.

Heating Elements not getting hot

1. Check the poles and coil on contactor

  • Check the voltage passing through each pole on the contactor verifying proper voltage is present.
  • Check the contactor coil verifying the coil is receiving proper voltage. Coil voltage usually range from 24vac, 115/120vac, & 208vac. Check contactor specs for coil voltage.

2. Check Heating Element

  • Perform a continuity test on the heating elements. Depending the brand, there are usually 6 wires number 1-6. Continuity should be between 1&4, 2&5, and 3&6. If one of these pairs fail a continuity test, replace the heating element.
  • Check the amperes on each wire when heat is being called. If the amp reading isn't the same for every wire going to the heat element, check the contractor verifying proper voltage is passing through. If proper voltage is passing through replace the heating element.

3.Check Gas Pressure

  • Check the gas pressure at the manifold. There should be a service port on the gas line between the gas valve and burners. Check the appliance specs for recommended water column. Usually water column is 4 inches. If the gas pressure is low, it can be increased at the gas value. If the appliance have a gas regulator, gas pressure can be increased at the gas regulator.

4.Check Circuit Board Relay/Relay Board

  • Technical Support from the manufacturer will be needed for this section.
